The tour features three renowned ski resorts—Zao Onsen, Tazawako, and Appi Kogen—each known for its high-quality, deep snow. With multiple days on the slopes, you can fully immerse yourself in some of Japan’s finest skiing, enjoying a variety of terrain and snow experiences at each destination. Combining world-class powder skiing with cultural depth and the ease of a fully guided package, this tour offers a truly rewarding and well-balanced winter journey through Tohoku.
Meet in Yamagata, a gateway to the mountains of Tohoku.
We meet at our hotel at 5:00pm for the Tour Briefing. You will need to make your own way there. On arrival at the hotel, you will be met by your tour leader in the lobby.
After the tour briefing, we will go for a group dinner.There, we will get to know each other and experience our first taste of Japanese culture.

A complimentary city walk tour in Yamagata.
If you are planning to arrive in Yamagata a day before the tour departure date, you will have a bit more time to recover from jet lag. To make the most of your stay in Yamagata, your tour leader will be able to offer you a complimentary city walk tour before the tour briefing at 5:00pm on Day One.

Arrive in the historic mountain village of Zao Onsen, one of Japan’s most famous hot spring ski destinations. Surrounded by snowy forests and steaming natural hot springs, Zao offers a uniquely atmospheric winter setting that feels distinctly Japanese.
After checking into your traditional onsen accommodation, take time to explore the charming village streets, browse local shops, or simply relax in the mineral-rich hot springs before the skiing adventure begins.

Ski Among the Famous Snow Monsters.(Ski Day)
Spend a full day skiing at Zao Onsen Ski Resort, renowned for its legendary “snow monsters” — massive snow-covered trees shaped by powerful winter winds unique to this region.
The resort offers a wide variety of terrain suitable for different skiing styles and ability levels, from long groomed runs to powder-filled side trails. Scenic ropeways connect the mountain areas, offering breathtaking panoramic views across the snow-covered landscape.
If weather conditions allow, you may also have the opportunity to take a short snow hike from the ropeway summit station to enjoy spectacular views from the mountaintop.

Exploring the Cultural Heart of Tohoku.
Today is a relaxing travel day by private bus, offering the chance to experience the cultural charm and winter beauty of the Tohoku region beyond the ski slopes.
Along the way, you will visit several of northern Japan’s most scenic and atmospheric destinations, including Ginzan Onsen — a nostalgic hot spring town famous for its historic ryokan, traditional wooden buildings, and softly glowing gas lamps that create a timeless winter atmosphere.
The journey also includes a visit to Lake Tazawa, celebrated for its remarkably clear blue waters and peaceful natural surroundings. Surrounded by snowy mountains during winter, the lake offers some of the most serene landscapes in the Tohoku region.
Blending scenic travel, cultural exploration, and opportunities to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere of rural Japan, today provides a refreshing balance to the active ski days of the tour.

Begin the day at Tazawako Ski Resort, a hidden gem of the Tohoku region that remains largely undiscovered by international skiers. Known for its relaxed atmosphere and authentic local feel, the resort offers a uniquely Japanese skiing experience away from the crowds of more famous destinations.
The mountain features a variety of terrain overlooking the deep-blue waters of Lake Tazawa, creating breathtaking panoramic scenery throughout the day. With excellent snow quality and wide-open runs, Tazawako offers enjoyable skiing for a broad range of abilities and styles.
After skiing, travel by private bus to Appi Kogen Ski Resort, one of Tohoku’s premier ski destinations, where you will stay for the next three nights.

Enjoy your first full day at Appi Kogen, renowned for its high-quality powder snow, perfectly groomed runs, expansive terrain, and excellent tree skiing opportunities. The resort’s spacious layout and long, uncrowded runs create a refined skiing experience suitable for a wide range of skiers.
Appi is particularly well known for the quality of its groomers, offering smooth carving conditions alongside natural ungroomed areas and tree runs that provide variety throughout the mountain.
For those seeking a more adventurous experience, optional cat skiing upgrades are also available, giving advanced skiers access to additional off-piste terrain and untouched powder beyond the regular resort boundaries.
